AF1 – Air Force 1
AM – Air Max, eg AM1 = Air Max 1, AM90 = Air Max 90, AM95 = Air Max 95, etc
AJ – Air Jordan
B-Grade – Factory Seconds, usually stamped as a “B” grade shoe on the inside shoe tag.
Break Necks – Where someone does a “double take” and looks to see what you’re wearing on your feet, hopefully in a fit of excitement.
CG – Cool Greys, commonly used to describe the ‘cool grey’ Jordan releases – eg, CG Jordan III’s, etc.
Copped – To have purchased, or obtained the shoes/clothing/gear.
DMP – Defining Moments Pack (Special Jordan release)
DS – Deadstock, where the shoe is completely brand new, complete with box, tissue, never worn.
Deadstocking – The practice of not wearing shoes and keeping them as new. Usually only practiced by the more serious collectors.
VNDS / NDS – Very Near DeadStock / Near Deadstock, where the shoe may have been worn once or twice, but is almost brand new condition (DS)
Fakes – Fake shoes, where a shoe is copied by an unauthorized factory for the purpose of selling them as their real counterparts. Beware!
FCNY / FCLA – Popular consignment store Flight Club New York / Flight Club LA, where a lot of limited shoes or reseller stock is listed – [url]www.vintagekicks.com[/url]
Fire/Fiyah – A term also used to describe a hot shoe/gear, or a certain aspect of it. Similar to “heat”.
F&F – Friends & Family, where a shoe release is only distributed to friends and families of the designer involved or friends of the companies involved. Highly sought after, with prices of the shoes rocketing up into the four-figure territory.
FL – Foot Locker
FS – For Sale
FT – For Trade
Fugazi – Fake
Grails/Holy Grails – A person’s most sought after shoe, ever.
GR – General Release – Shoes that are released through most accounts, not limited.
Heat – Term used to describe “hot” shoes or gear in general.
HTM – A Nike design trifecta/powerhouse of Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker, used for special releases.
Hyperstrike – Very exclusive Nike release of a shoe in double digit numbers only (rumoured to be 24 pairs). Sometimes also referred to shoes given away to Friends & Family (See F&F)
Hype – Term used to refer to the “excitement” and “anticipation” built up by sneaker & streetwear fanatics leading up to shoe or clothing release. It can be a good or a bad thing depending on how justified a shoe or a clothing release is deserving of the hype it generates.
Hypebeast – Slang for a kid or someone who “buys into the hype” and just buys something because of it, as opposed to knowing what exactly it is or why they should buy it.
ID’s – Sometimes used to refer to Nike ID shoes, where one can customise their entire shoe online or in one of their Nike ID studios and have it custom made by Nike.
ISS – InstyleShoes.com or the ISS forums, also the official Sole Collector Magazine Forums
J’s – Jordans
JB – Jordan Brand
Line Up – The practice of lining up for a release. Sometimes can be for a few hours, or sometimes it can be overnight. In the USA there have been line-ups that have lasted up to seven days.
Maxes – Another slang term for Nike’s Air Maxs.
NB – New Balance shoe brand
OG – Original Gangster/Usually used to refer to the original model of the shoe – eg, OG Jordan III as opposed to the retros/reissues.
P-Rods – Paul Rodriguez Pro model by Nike SB.
PYS – Popular online store Pickyourshoes.com
PE – Players Edition exclusive
Pick-Ups – Your shoe/clothing/gear purchase.
Put on Ice – To deadstock a shoe, to keep it in its box and put it away, not to be worn.
Quickstrike – Limited Nike release of a certain shoe. As to how many units there are in each quickstrike, that is still up for debate.
Resell – The practice of “reselling” a shoe, usually confined to limited edition releases that are sold out on the first day of release.
Resellers – People who practice reselling, sometimes profiting by selling extremely hyped, hard to find or limited shoes or clothing over double or thrice the retail price after their initial release. A necessary evil for the sneaker game, as they can assist people to obtain shoes not released in their own markets – eg, Jap Exclusive, US exclusive
SB – Skateboarding, commonly used to refer to Nike’s Skateboarding line, Nike SB.
Tier 0 – Special Nike Accounts issued to exclusive stores worldwide who receive special releases. Very hard to attain, and very coveted amongst retailers.
The ‘Bay – Ebay
Variants – Different “versions” of a shoe, commonly fakes produced by unauthorized factories.

WTB – Wanted To Buy
X – to symbolise a collaboration between two artists or companies – eg, Neighborhood X Supreme, REPUBLIC X TMD
